Downloaded Digital Textbooks are usable with E-Readers on computers and mobile devices of all shapes and sizes. Using the resources bellow instructors are able to enhance and supplement their existing course materials for students to learn with. This allows students and instructors to view resources from almost anywhere they wish to work and learn.

The resources on the OER Commons website include documents, textbooks and other resources to be used for online instruction and on campus learning.

Instructors and Students have access to free textbooks for College and AP level courses in varied content areas.

Instructors also have the option to use their sample syllabus to compare it to their current one to incorporate the new textbook to their course.

Google Play Books contains current novels, textbooks and graphic novels for instructors and students alike.

Available for download on multiple platforms, access to course materials can be as close as your pocket and less expensive to purchase.

Amazon Kindle

Amazon Kindle e-Books, designed originally for the Kindle, are now available anywhere their app can be installed.

Similar to Google Play Books, newer and older print books are available. Some books may be available in one source and not another due to publisher rights.

Adobe Acrobat (.PDF)

A long standing stable on computer PC’s Adobe Acrobat allows users to view Portable Document Formatted (PDF) documents.

Using this program stops PDF’s from opening in a browser window when opened from a computer folder and grants more functions to the user.

Adobe Digital Editions (.PDF/.EPUB)

Adobe Digital Editions is designed to make .pdf and .epub documents reader friendly.

Key advantages in using Adobe Digital Editions is the ability to create a library of documents, set bookmarks and access a documents table of contents. This is all done with the a similar set up to Adobe Acrobat, but designed in a cleaner format for reading text.

EPUBReader

EPUBReader is a HMTL 5 browser based .epub reader designed to read .epub file type textbooks.

More Information

This reader can be used as an “extension”/”add-on” to Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. Usable online and offline once installed.
